Position Overview: Clothing Grader

As a Clothing Grader, you will be responsible for sorting, inspecting, and evaluating donated clothing items. The role is critical to maintaining the quality of merchandise sold in our stores. The job involves assessing items based on their condition, brand, and style to determine whether they should be sent for sale, recycled, or discarded.

Compensation: Competitive hourly wage
Schedule: Flexible shifts available (evenings and weekends included)


Key Responsibilities of a Clothing Grader

As a Clothing Grader, your primary responsibility will be to evaluate and process incoming clothing donations. This involves several essential tasks:

1. Sorting and Evaluating Clothing

  • Carefully inspect and assess clothing items for damage, stains, or wear. Evaluate each item based on its condition and whether it can be resold.
  • Sort clothing into appropriate categories, such as saleable, recyclable, or discardable.
  • Follow company guidelines and standards to ensure consistent grading practices for all items.

2. Maintaining Efficiency

  • Work efficiently to meet daily processing goals while maintaining high standards of quality.
  • Organize items to ensure they are ready for the next step in the processing flow, whether that’s pricing, tagging, or displaying in the store.

3. Ensuring Product Quality

  • Ensure that only high-quality, clean, and presentable clothing is sent to the sales floor.
  • Identify clothing that requires minor repairs or alterations and work with the team to ensure items are ready for resale.

4. Team Collaboration

  • Collaborate with other Clothing Graders and team members to ensure the flow of merchandise is smooth and efficient.
  • Work together to ensure processing deadlines are met while maintaining a clean and safe work environment.

5. Maintaining Safety and Cleanliness

  • Adhere to safety protocols while handling clothing and other materials in the warehouse.
  • Keep your work area clean and organized to ensure a safe and efficient working environment for everyone.

Qualifications for the Clothing Grader Role

To be successful in the Clothing Grader position, you should meet the following qualifications:

  • Attention to Detail: Ability to carefully inspect clothing items for quality, condition, and suitability for resale.
  • Physical Ability: Ability to stand for long periods and lift or move bags of clothing as needed.
  • Experience: While previous experience in retail or clothing grading is a plus, it’s not required. We offer training to ensure you have the skills needed for success.
  • Team-Oriented: Willingness to work as part of a team and collaborate with colleagues to meet production goals.
