Key Details About the Position
- Position Title: Groundsperson
- Location: Ottawa, Ontario
- Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent
- Work Schedule: 40-hour week (Sunday to Thursday, with flexibility for overtime as needed)
Key Responsibilities
As a Groundsperson, your duties will include:
- Burial and Interment Services:
- Performing ground burials, crypt entombments, and cremation niche interments with precision and respect.
- Cemetery Maintenance:
- Maintaining cemetery grounds, including mowing, trimming, and general landscaping to ensure a serene environment for visitors.
- Customer Service:
- Providing compassionate and professional service to grieving families.
- Memorial and Monument Installation:
- Safely installing and maintaining memorials and monuments as per customer requirements.
- Equipment Maintenance:
- Performing routine maintenance on machinery and tools to ensure operational efficiency.
Required Qualifications and Skills
To excel as a Groundsperson, the following qualifications and skills are essential:
- Education:
- Minimum Grade 12 education or equivalent.
- Licensing and Certification:
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving abstract.
- Training or certification in heavy equipment operation (preferred).
- Certificate in Integrated Pest Management (IPM) (an asset).
- Experience and Skills:
- Previous landscaping, horticultural, or cemetery experience is advantageous.
- Mechanical skills or formal training in mechanics.
- Ability to lift and carry 50 lbs comfortably.
- Teamwork and a positive attitude with excellent multitasking abilities.
