Key Responsibilities
1. Log Scaling and Safety Inspections
- Safely inspect and weigh all trucks entering the plant across the scales.
- Scale logs according to the BC Interior Scaling Manual.
- Inspect logs to ensure compliance with plant specifications.
2. Traffic and Safety Coordination
- Direct truck traffic during loading and unloading at the plant site.
- Communicate plant safety rules clearly to drivers and ensure adherence.
3. Data Recording and Reporting
- Accurately record and upload log scaling samples to the HBS system.
- Prepare daily and weekly reports on log receipts.
4. Training and Mentorship
- Assist in providing mentorship and training for Weighmasters.
- Help train team members on log quality identification and safe operational practices.
5. Support Quality Control
- Collaborate with Manufacturing Quality Staff to ensure compliance with quality control standards.
- Assist with plant waste and residue programs.
Skills and Qualifications
Communication and Leadership
- Strong communication skills for mentoring and guiding the team.
- Ability to independently work with minimal supervision.
Physical and Technical Skills
- Ability to lift to 10 lbs regularly, 25 lbs occasionally, and up to 50 lbs when necessary.
- Experience working with scales and maintaining accurate records.
Log Quality and Compliance
- Proven experience in log quality identification.
- Valid BC Interior Scaling License required.
Experience
- Previous experience as a Log Scaler or in a related field is preferred.
- Strong understanding of log scaling procedures and compliance standards.
- Knowledge of safety protocols and the ability to apply them in an industrial environment.
