Key Responsibilities

1. Log Scaling and Safety Inspections

• Safely inspect and weigh all trucks entering the plant across the scales.
• Scale logs according to the BC Interior Scaling Manual.
• Inspect logs to ensure compliance with plant specifications.

2. Traffic and Safety Coordination

• Direct truck traffic during loading and unloading at the plant site.
• Communicate plant safety rules clearly to drivers and ensure adherence.

3. Data Recording and Reporting

• Accurately record and upload log scaling samples to the HBS system.
• Prepare daily and weekly reports on log receipts.

4. Training and Mentorship

• Assist in providing mentorship and training for Weighmasters.
• Help train team members on log quality identification and safe operational practices.

5. Support Quality Control

• Collaborate with Manufacturing Quality Staff to ensure compliance with quality control standards.
• Assist with plant waste and residue programs.

Skills and Qualifications

Communication and Leadership

• Strong communication skills for mentoring and guiding the team.
• Ability to independently work with minimal supervision.

Physical and Technical Skills

• Ability to lift to 10 lbs regularly, 25 lbs occasionally, and up to 50 lbs when necessary.
• Experience working with scales and maintaining accurate records.

Log Quality and Compliance

• Proven experience in log quality identification.
• Valid BC Interior Scaling License required.

Experience

• Previous experience as a Log Scaler or in a related field is preferred.
• Strong understanding of log scaling procedures and compliance standards.
• Knowledge of safety protocols and the ability to apply them in an industrial environment.
