Key Responsibilities of the Mechanic

As a Mechanic at Certarus, your primary responsibility will be to perform maintenance and repairs on heavy vehicles, including trucks and trailers. Specific tasks and responsibilities include:

1. Maintenance and Repairs of Trucks and Trailers:
   • Diagnose and repair issues with trucks and trailers, performing both minor and major repairs.
   • Regularly inspect and test commercial vehicles, including performing quarterly inspections to ensure they meet safety and performance standards.
   • Troubleshoot and address mechanical, electrical, and brake system issues.
2. Preventive Maintenance:
   • Ensure that vehicles are kept in good working order by following preventive maintenance schedules.

3. Diagnostic Testing and Troubleshooting:
   • Conduct regular diagnostic tests on trucks and trailers to identify any potential problems.

4. Inventory Management:

Required Qualifications and Skills for the Mechanic Role

To be considered for this Mechanic position, candidates should meet the following qualifications:

1. Experience:
   • A minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience as a diesel mechanic, specifically with heavy vehicles.
   • Experience with Cummins diesel engines, Peterbilt, and Freightliner vehicles is highly preferred.
2. Certifications:
   • 310T Certificate of Qualification (or equivalent) is required.
   • An AZ license is an asset but not mandatory.
3. Education:
   • An Associate of Applied Science in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance is considered an asset.
4. Technical Skills:
   • Ability to diagnose and repair various mechanical, electrical, and brake system issues.
   • Proficient in using diagnostic equipment and software for vehicle troubleshooting and repairs.
   • Familiarity with CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems) and MS 365.
5. Safety and Work Ethics:
   • A safety-minded approach with a strong work ethic.
   • Must be able to work independently as well as part of a team.
6. Other Requirements:
   • Clean Driver’s Abstract with no suspensions.
   • Must pass a criminal background check, Fit-for-Duty test, and drug and alcohol screening.
