As a Mill Operator in our animal nutrition and health division, you will be part of a team that improves animal lives through better nutrition. This is a full-time position based in Palmerston, Ontario, where you’ll have the opportunity to operate and maintain production machinery in a dynamic work environment.

Job Description

As a Mill Operator, you will be responsible for operating and monitoring various production systems, including grinders, pellet mills, and grain flaking equipment. You will ensure the safe and efficient operation of these systems and assist with troubleshooting minor issues. Additionally, you will play a key role in maintaining a clean and safe environment, while adhering to Cargill’s safety standards.

Primary Responsibilities

1. Operating and Monitoring Equipment

  • Operate computerized systems for feed production, including grinders, pellet mills, and grain flaking equipment.
  • Monitor production equipment to ensure efficient and safe operation.

2. Recording and Managing Data

  • Ensure accurate recording of scale weights and transactions daily.
  • Collect and process samples as required for quality control purposes.

3. Troubleshooting and Maintenance

  • Troubleshoot minor issues with machinery and equipment.
  • Perform basic maintenance tasks to keep machines running smoothly.

4. Safety and Sanitation

  • Maintain a clean and sanitary work environment.
  • Follow all safety protocols and regulations to ensure a safe working environment.

5. Assist and Collaborate with Plant Personnel

  • Assist plant personnel with operational tasks as required.
  • Perform additional duties assigned by leadership to ensure smooth plant operations.

Required Qualifications

  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Ability to work in elevated areas (4 feet and above).
  • Capability to perform physical tasks such as bending, lifting to 50lbs, kneeling, climbing, crawling, and twisting, with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Ability to work in various indoor and outdoor conditions, including heat, cold, dust, and loud noise, while using personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Experience in operating machinery and industrial equipment.
  • Strong English communication skills (both verbal and written).
  • Flexibility to work overtime, weekends, holidays, or different shifts as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience in production-related work.
  • A high level of mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
  • Competent computer knowledge, including Microsoft Office and SAP.
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
