Job Description

As a Physiotherapist, you will provide individualized therapeutic care for cancer patients to help them achieve optimal physical function and independence. This includes triaging referrals, creating treatment plans, and offering one-on-one or group therapy sessions in-person or virtually. Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team and participate in quality improvement initiatives to improve patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

Therapeutic Services

  • Provide evidence-based therapeutic interventions to cancer patients.
  • Develop and implement individualized care plans.
  • Conduct assessments, screenings, and goal setting.

Collaboration and Education

  • Work with a multidisciplinary team of therapists, pathologists, and healthcare providers.
  • Contribute to patient and staff education through materials, consultations, and training sessions.

Quality Improvement

  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care.
  • Stay updated with best practices in oncology rehabilitation.

Ideal Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate is a skilled and compassionate physiotherapist passionate about delivering exceptional oncology care.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Physiotherapy from an accredited university.
  • Registration: Current registration with the College of Physiotherapists of Alberta.
  • Key Skills: Interpersonal communication, time management, and computer proficiency (Microsoft Office Suite).
  • Certifications: Heart and Stroke Foundation BLS Certification by the first day of work.

Experience

  • Minimum 1 year in inpatient or outpatient rehabilitation.
  • Oncology experience (preferred) in areas like pain management or cancer care.
  • Lymphedema management certification (preferred).
