Key Responsibilities
Plumbing Maintenance and Repair
- Repair and Install: Fix, install, replace, and test water systems, medical gas supply, and distribution systems.
- Plumbing Systems Installation: Install new plumbing systems, including pipes, fixtures, and systems, based on blueprints, drawings, and specifications.
- Waste and Vent Line Maintenance: Ensure the proper function of waste and vent lines using tools like plumbers’ snakes, vacuum plungers, or jet washers.
Collaboration and Safety
- Assist with Installations: Support contractors or other staff members with equipment installations and plumbing projects.
- Conduct Inspections: Perform plumbing safety checks, particularly on backflow prevention devices.
- Emergency Response: Quickly respond to emergency plumbing situations and summon additional help when necessary.
- HSE Compliance: Follow Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) policies, conduct safety audits, and report any conditions that could cause accidents.
Training and Development
- Staff Training: Provide training for other staff members on light plumbing maintenance and repairs.
- General Maintenance: Perform general building maintenance and operational duties as required.
Skills and Qualifications
Required Skills
- Plumbing Expertise: At least 4-5 years of experience in plumbing, including pipefitting and maintenance in mechanical systems.
- Technical Competence: Strong knowledge of plumbing systems, medical gas supply, and other mechanical systems.
- Judgment and Decision-Making: Ability to analyze multiple information sources to make sound decisions and solve problems.
- Computer Skills: Familiarity with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Physical Requirements: Ability to stoop, stand, walk, climb ladders, and lift heavy loads (up to 50 lbs or more).
Certifications and Education
- High School Diploma or Equivalent: GED or relevant job-related experience.
- Plumbing Certification: Journeyman-level plumbing certification required.
- Preferred Certifications: Medical Gas and Backflow certifications.
- Driver’s License: A valid driver’s license is required for this role.
Experience
- Supervisory Experience: Prior shift manager or supervisory experience is a plus.
- Steam Condensation: Experience with steam condensation systems is beneficial.
