Job Overview

Position: Pricing Lead
Job Type: Finance (Permanent)
Location: London – Pimlico
Salary: £78,000 – £135,500 per annum
Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 09:00–17:00

John Lewis Partnership is offering an exciting Pricing Lead role where you will oversee the development and implementation of insurance pricing strategies. As a key member of the Insurance Broking Leadership Team, you will lead the Pricing and Analytics teams, ensuring that the pricing processes align with the company’s overall business strategy.

Key Responsibilities

1. Pricing Strategy Development

  • Take ownership of creating and executing pricing strategies for the motor and home insurance portfolios.
  • Develop mathematical models for price optimization and ensure alignment with the company’s goals.

2. Leadership and Team Management

  • Lead and develop the Pricing and Analytics teams, fostering both technical expertise and business acumen.
  • Act as Chairperson of the Pricing Committee, guiding pricing decisions and ensuring compliance with regulations.

3. Data-Driven Decision Making

  • Use insights and data to drive pricing actions and develop recommendations based on customer needs and market trends.
  • Produce detailed management information (MI) and business intelligence (BI) reports.

4. Regulatory Compliance and Business Judgment

  • Maintain compliance with all relevant regulations, including GIPP and Consumer Duty.
  • Provide practical solutions to complex issues, ensuring the business operates efficiently and effectively.

Required Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

  • Degree in Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field.
  • Experience in pricing for motor and home insurance, with knowledge of predictive modeling and price optimization software (e.g., Willis Towers Watson or Earnix).
  • Deep understanding of general insurance principles and relevant regulations.
  • Proven ability in leading teams and delivering strategic and innovative solutions.
  • Strong business judgment and the ability to resolve complex pricing challenges.

Desirable Skills

  • Experience in pricing for Price Comparison Websites (PCWs) and familiarity with machine learning or data science.
  • Knowledge of industry tools such as CDL Strata, Kingfisher, Hummingbird, Goldfinch, and RTP.
