Job Description
As a Psychologist at ETSB in the Eastern Territory, you will play a crucial role in supporting students with emotional and mental health challenges. Your expertise will help guide students facing learning difficulties or social maladjustment. Working closely with a multidisciplinary team, you will assess, evaluate, and develop personalized plans to improve students’ psychological well-being, supporting them throughout their educational journey.

Key Responsibilities
- Psychological Service Development: Participate in the development and implementation of psychological services that meet academic and administrative needs.
- Screening & Identification: Contribute to the identification of students facing psychological challenges by conducting preventive screenings and assessments.
- Psychological Evaluations: Plan and execute evaluations of students’ mental and psychological functioning using recognized psychometric tools.
- Collaboration: Work with a multidisciplinary team to design and review Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) for students.
- Consultation with Teachers: Advise teachers on the nature of psychological challenges, suggest strategies, and offer support to improve students’ academic performance.
- Student and Parent Support: Provide guidance to students and their families to help identify and address difficulties, and recommend additional resources if necessary.
- Crisis Management: Manage emergencies and propose solutions to help students cope with psychological crises.
- Report Preparation: Prepare progress reports, evaluations, and recommendations to inform school decision-making.
- Relationship Building: Develop relationships with external partners, including health and social services organizations and other school boards.
Desired Profile
To qualify for the Psychologist position at ETSB, candidates must:
- Be a member of the Order des Psychologues du Québec.
- Hold appropriate qualifications in psychology with a focus on educational support.
Required Skills
- Psychological Assessment: Ability to use standardized psychometric tools, interpret data, and perform in-depth evaluations.
- Interpersonal Skills: Strong ability to collaborate with teachers, students, and multidisciplinary teams.
- Problem-Solving: Ability to suggest practical solutions to enhance students’ psychological well-being.
- Crisis Management: Experience in de-escalating crises and providing psychological first aid.
- Report Writing: Proficiency in preparing detailed reports, progress notes, and evaluations.
- Bilingual (Preferred): Fluency in both French and English is preferred, as ETSB serves a bilingual community.
