Job Description

As a Relief Operator at Canfor’s Axis Plant, you will play a critical role in maintaining production efficiency by stepping into different roles when needed. Your ability to learn, adapt, and operate various sawmill machinery will ensure seamless production while contributing to the overall success of our operations.

Key Responsibilities

1. Machinery Operation

  • Operate various sawmill machines and equipment to maintain production flow.
  • Step in to cover for operators during breaks, absences, or vacations.

2. Multi-Role Adaptability

  • Learn and master multiple roles within the sawmill to provide effective relief support.
  • Demonstrate versatility by quickly adapting to new positions.

3. Quality Assurance

  • Monitor and ensure the quality of lumber and wood products throughout production.
  • Identify and resolve issues affecting product quality or equipment performance.

4. Safety Compliance

  • Follow all safety procedures and protocols to ensure a safe workplace.
  • Report safety hazards immediately and support a safety-first culture.

5. Troubleshooting and Downtime Reduction

  • Identify mechanical or process issues and resolve them promptly to minimize downtime.
  • Collaborate with supervisors and operators for smooth operational transitions.

6. Record Maintenance

  • Maintain detailed logs of activities, equipment performance, and any encountered issues.

  • Prior experience in a sawmill or industrial environment.

Experience
