As part of this role, you will support Deloitte’s Canberra-based CFO Advisory team in enhancing clients’ financial management processes. This role is ideal for experienced finance professionals looking to work with government and large federal departments, contributing to impactful projects in financial reporting, finance transformation, regulatory compliance, and accounting.

What Will Your Typical Day Look Like?
In this Senior Analyst role, you will work alongside Canberra’s CFO Advisory team to drive better financial decision-making for clients, especially within federal departments. Projects will include creating internal and external budgets, improving reporting frameworks, and managing relationships with the Australian National Audit Office. You will also be involved in preparing responses for inquiries from government bodies, supporting critical financial analyses for federal departments in response to events like bushfires and COVID-19.

Key Responsibilities

• Financial Reporting and Budgeting: Develop internal and external budgets and enhance reporting processes.
• Government Liaison: Collaborate with entities like the Australian National Audit Office on technical accounting matters.
• Crisis Financial Analysis: Analyze financial impacts of national events for federal departments.
• Team Collaboration: Work closely with Deloitte’s Canberra team, offering solutions for finance transformation and budgeting.

Skills Required

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
• Working toward or holding a CA/CPA qualification.
• 3-5 years of experience in finance, accounting, or external audit.
• Expertise in technical accounting, management accounting, and budgeting.
• Strong relationship management skills and a collaborative approach.
• Security clearance is an advantage (required for some projects).

Educational Requirements

• Qualifications: Bachelor’s in accounting, finance, or a related field; CA/CPA or equivalent qualification.

Experience

• Proven experience in finance or accounting roles with exposure to budgeting, technical accounting, and government liaison.
