The Senior Compositor at ILM Vancouver ensures the technical quality and creative integrity of visual effects shots. You will work collaboratively with supervisors and artists to produce high-quality visuals, solving technical challenges and enhancing storytelling.

Key Responsibilities

1. Creative & Technical Collaboration

• Work closely with the Compositing Supervisor and VFX Supervisor to determine the best creative and technical approaches for shots.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary artists to maintain a cohesive look.

2. Compositing Execution

• Perform tasks like 2D tracking, matte extraction, layering elements, and color grading.
• Maintain consistent color balance and quality across assigned sequences.

3. Problem-Solving & Look Development

• Solve aesthetic and technical issues independently under tight deadlines.
• Develop generic looks for team-wide applications.

4. Quality Assurance

• Ensure uniformity and photo-realism in final outputs.
• Provide creative solutions to elevate visual storytelling.

Ideal Candidate Profile

Disney’s ILM seeks a creative professional with a passion for visual effects, strong aesthetic judgment, and the ability to thrive under pressure.

Skills and Qualifications

• Expertise in Nuke compositing software.
• Strong foundation in composition, color, and design.
• Knowledge of photographic lighting and fine arts principles.

Experience

• 5+ years of professional VFX experience with a diploma in computer graphics or fine arts, OR 7+ years of experience instead of education.
• Familiarity with Linux systems and coding in Python or C++ is a plus.
