Essential Functions of a Tower Operator

Core Responsibilities

1. Equipment Operations: Operate gussetters, betavacs, conveyors, and related machinery.
2. Quality Assurance: Rework misshapen blocks and inspect cheese for defects; ensure no cheese remains on the table for over 10 minutes.
3. Bag Management: Maintain a steady supply of 40# bags near the tower area and ensure proper stocking.
4. Tower Monitoring: Understand tower indicator lights and resolve issues promptly. Inspect towers regularly and fill out log sheets accurately.
5. Sanitation and Cleaning: Collect in-process samples, prepare towers for CIP (Clean-In-Place), and ensure the cleanliness of salt whey tanks, white trays, and barrel liner clamps.
6. Metal Detection: Test and record metal detectors hourly to meet compliance standards.
7. Environmental Practices: Maintain a clean workspace by picking up waste and adhering to sanitation guidelines.
8. Team Collaboration: Support team projects and assist operators to maintain tower speed and production efficiency.

• Provide leadership through knowledge sharing and mentorship.
• Perform tasks as assigned by the Team Leader or Assistant Team Leader.

Qualifications for the Tower Operator Role

• Experience: Minimum of 3 years in a related field or equivalent education and experience.

• Physical Stamina: Ability to lift to 50 lbs, work in various physical postures, and identify color variations.
