Key Responsibilities
As a Truck Driver Class 5, your main duties will include:
- Material Delivery: Safely deliver materials such as windows, doors, cement, shingles, and other building products to residential homes and construction sites.
- Customer Interaction: Assist customers in the lumber yard, warehouse, and store as needed, providing high-quality service and product knowledge.
- Loading and Unloading: Load and unload products, ensuring that the products are securely and safely transported.
- Truck Preparation: Prepare trucks for loading, assisting warehouse staff with product handling and organization.
- Vehicle Maintenance: Ensure that trucks are properly maintained and meet all safety regulations.
- Communication: Maintain contact with dispatch and resolve any issues that arise during the delivery process.
- Safety Compliance: Verify load security and accuracy, report any defects, violations, accidents, or injuries, and follow all safety regulations and company procedures.
Qualifications
Required Skills and Experience:
- Physical Stamina: Ability to lift to 75lbs and perform physically demanding tasks.
- Work Experience: Proven experience as a delivery driver, ideally in a similar environment.
- Driver’s License: A valid Class 5 driver’s license is required.
- Weather Adaptability: Ability to work in various weather conditions and fast-paced environments.
- Personal Traits: Self-motivated, reliable, punctual, and safety-oriented.
- Communication Skills: Effective written and oral communication skills; bilingual English/French is an asset.
- Basic Tools: Basic hand tool skills and mechanical knowledge for minor truck maintenance.
- Education: Grade 12 diploma or equivalent.
