Position Details

  • Position: Accounting Clerk
  • Location: Hamilton, ON
  • Type: 6-month contract with the possibility of extension to 12 months

Key Responsibilities of an Accounting Clerk

In this role, your responsibilities will include:

1. Accounts Payable and Receivable

  • Process vendor invoices and customer payments efficiently and accurately.
  • Reconcile vendor statements and address discrepancies promptly.

2. Invoicing and Transaction Posting

  • Prepare and issue customer invoices, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Post transactions and maintain detailed financial records.

3. Month-End Support

  • Assist in month-end and year-end close processes, including preparing journal entries and reconciling accounts.

4. Financial Reporting

  • Support the preparation of financial reports, such as balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.

5. Documentation and Filing

  • Organize and maintain invoices, receipts, and other financial documents.

6. Collaboration

  • Work with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth financial operations.
  • Respond to inquiries from stakeholders and vendors professionally and promptly.

Who We’re Looking For

We’re searching for candidates who meet the following qualifications:

Experience and Education

  • At least 1 year of experience in accounting, particularly in AP and AR.
  • A post-graduate diploma or degree in business administration or accounting.

Technical Skills

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables and VLOOKUPs.

Personal Attributes

  • Strong communication skills for effective collaboration.
  • Ability to thrive in a cross-functional team environment.
  • Commitment to accuracy and attention to detail.
