Heritage Co-op is hiring seasonal Crop Scouts for the Spring of 2025 in our Agro Department, located in Brandon, Manitoba. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work in agriculture while gaining valuable experience in crop protection and scouting.
Job Description
As a Crop Scout, you will report to the Agro Manager and collaborate with agronomists to provide essential services to local farms. Your role will include identifying weeds, pests, and soil conditions, assisting with nutrient recommendations, and helping with data entry. You will also play a key role in delivering products to farms, operating yard maintenance equipment, and supporting various agro-related tasks.

Key Responsibilities
1. Field/Crop Scouting
- Identify weeds, insects, and diseases in crops, providing vital information for proper treatment.
2. Product Delivery
- Deliver products such as crop protection solutions and seeds directly to farms.
3. Assist with Shipping and Receiving
- Support the shipping and receiving of crop protection products and fertilizers.
4. Help with Guest Appreciation Events
- Contribute to organizing and assisting at guest appreciation events.
5. Yard Maintenance
- Operate yard maintenance equipment as needed to maintain the site.
6. Record Keeping and Data Entry
- Update and maintain field information, and assist in setting up insect monitoring traps.
7. Assist Agronomists/Agro Manager
- Provide support to the Agronomist and Agro Manager with daily duties and operations.
8. Collaborate with Other Agro Sites
- Help at other Agro locations when necessary.
Ideal Candidate Profile
Skills and Qualifications
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Strong organizational and communication abilities.
- Enrollment in an Agriculture Diploma or Degree program.
- A valid Class 5 Driver’s License is required.
Experience
- Previous experience in agriculture or a related field is an asset but not required.
- Ability to work in a team and follow instructions efficiently.
