Job Description
The Desktop Systems Specialist ensures the effective operation of ILM’s IT infrastructure by handling support tickets, improving systems, and assisting in technical projects. This hybrid role involves working both onsite and remotely to meet the studio’s IT needs while delivering exceptional customer service.

Key Responsibilities
1. Daily Operations
- Handle IT tickets and tasks, providing mentorship to junior team members.
- Monitor studio production environments to identify and resolve blockers.
2. System Improvements
- Continuously improve operational processes for better efficiency.
- Manage studio assets and provide input for financial planning.
3. Technical Support
- Troubleshoot issues across Linux, Windows, and macOS systems.
- Support high-performance workstations and resolve performance issues methodically.
4. Infrastructure Projects
- Participate in upgrades, migrations, and deployments of studio infrastructure.
- Ensure all projects are well-documented and maintain high-quality standards.
5. Scripting & Maintenance
- Create scripts and automation using Python or Bash.
- Perform repairs, supervise vendor maintenance, and handle hardware installations.
Ideal Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate for this role is a tech-savvy professional with a passion for solving technical problems in creative environments.
Skills and Qualifications
- Proficiency in Linux, Windows, and macOS.
- Experience with high-performance virtual and bare-metal workstations.
- Strong troubleshooting and multitasking skills.
- Knowledge of GPU technology and IT certifications (e.g., CompTIA+) is a plus.
Experience
- Proven experience in IT support roles, preferably in visual effects or gaming studios.
- Expertise in hardware and software troubleshooting for desktops and tablets.
