Job Overview

Position: Engineer
Location: Nuneaton, Warwickshire, United Kingdom
Salary: £55,485.36 per annum
Work Schedule: Full-time, Shift pattern: 4-on/4-off (Days & Nights, 6:45 AM – 7:00 PM)

At Saputo Dairy UK, one of the world’s leading dairy processors, we’re looking to hire an experienced Engineer to join our growing team. This position is critical to maintaining high-performance production lines for our range of well-known cheese and dairy products. You’ll work in a fast-paced, hands-on environment, ensuring the continuous operation of automated systems, machinery, and packaging equipment.

Key Responsibilities

1. Maintenance of Automated Systems

  • Maintain and optimize multiple production lines, including slicers, scales, bagging machines, sealers, and packaging equipment.
  • Ensure the equipment is performing at optimal levels to meet and exceed Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for reliability and efficiency.
  • Capture and record plant performance data to support continuous improvement.

2. Predictive Maintenance

  • Complete regular maintenance activities aimed at preventing equipment failures.
  • Implement a predictive approach to tasks, minimizing downtime and increasing plant efficiency.

3. Fault Diagnosis and Troubleshooting

  • Perform fault-finding on electrical and mechanical systems, particularly with PLCs (prior experience with PLCs is advantageous but not required).
  • Work on a variety of machinery within the manufacturing environment to troubleshoot and resolve issues quickly.

4. Lean Manufacturing & Continuous Improvement

  • Apply lean manufacturing tools and techniques to improve processes and reduce waste.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement (CI) activities, ensuring operational efficiency is always evolving.

5. Use of CMMS and Data Interpretation

  • Use the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to manage tasks and track the effectiveness of maintenance activities.
  • Interpret data to identify plant losses and recommend solutions to improve performance.

Required Skills and Qualifications

Educational Background

  • Degree: HNC or HND in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • Experience: Hands-on experience with a broad range of equipment and machinery within a manufacturing or production environment.

Technical Skills

  • PLC Experience: Experience with PLCs is desirable but not essential.
  • Lean Manufacturing: Experience working with lean tools and techniques in a manufacturing setting.
  • CMMS: Familiarity with CMMS to manage maintenance activities and data tracking.
  • Fault Diagnosis: Strong skills in troubleshooting electrical and mechanical systems.

Soft Skills

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
