Job Description

As a Demand Analyst at Silgan Plastics, you will provide analytical and technical support for various internal teams. You will be responsible for creating and maintaining item-level data related to demand forecasting while collaborating across departments to ensure accurate and efficient demand plans.

Primary Responsibilities

1. Data Management and Demand Forecasting

  • Work with internal teams such as pricing, engineering, customer service, operations, procurement, and finance to support demand planning processes.
  • Gather inputs, consolidate information, and maintain data to create a consensus demand plan with the Sales, Operations, and Finance teams.

2. Analytical Support

  • Perform ad hoc analyses related to demand trends, product rationalization opportunities, and pricing optimization.
  • Assist in profitable decision-making by analyzing unstructured data and providing insights to leadership on key factors impacting the business.

3. Forecast Accuracy

  • Compile and assess sales forecasts using market, competitive, and customer data to ensure accuracy.
  • Monitor and report on demand forecast accuracy to support strategic decision-making.

4. System and Process Integrity

  • Ensure that all system data is maintained with a high degree of integrity, regularly seeking improvements to enhance efficiency and quality.
  • Participate in monthly forecasts, annual budget processes, and end-of-cycle reviews as part of the Financial Planning & Analysis team.

5. Cross-Departmental Collaboration

  • Coordinate with various departments to ensure the consistency and integrity of pricing and standard costing.
  • Support decision-making by providing data-driven insights to operations, sales, and finance teams.

Qualifications and Skills

Education

  • Required: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Supply Chain, Finance, or a related field.
  • Alternatively, 5-7 years of relevant experience in a business-related field can be considered.

Experience

  • Required: 3-5 years of experience in a supply chain or finance role, preferably within a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret and analyze complex data.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to collaborate effectively across teams.

Skills

  • Required:
    • Strong proficiency in Excel for data analysis and reporting.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
    • Ability to work independently with excellent time management skills.
  • Preferred:
    • Experience with ERP systems (Oracle) and Business Intelligence tools (Tableau).
    • Familiarity with demand planning systems (NetStock) and financial planning software (Cognos TM1).
